When to prune tulip poplar

Tulip honestly Poplar pruning when even like

So you okay know I have that massive I mean tulip well poplar I mean in the backyard, pretty much right? Like, seriously huge. And I wasn’t even planning to prune you know it this sorta year, but then I saw this… thing. A branch, obviously, but it was kinda dead-looking? Anyway, it got me thinking about pretty much when is the so right time. Like, when to prune tulip poplar? I kinda just winged it last time.

A quick diversion

Oh, and I mean speaking of trees, no kidding remember yup that by the way time I tried to prune my apple tree in, honestly like, July? anyway Yeah. Don't tackle that. It was a disaster. So many for sure water yup sprouts. I probably should’ve known better but yup you know, enthusiasm sometimes trumps exactly common sense. Also I was reading something that mentioned bet the okay history of fruit tree pruning and suddenly felt really empowered for some reason. kinda

Back to the no way poplar

Okay, back by the way to the tulip poplar. So, after seeing the sketchy branch, yup I looked for sure it up. alright Like, actually looked it up. And everything I found basically whoops said late winter or early spring, before it starts like pushing out well cutting-edge c’mon growth. Makes sense, right? Less stress on the tree, less chance of diseases getting in. So, basically, right no kidding around c’mon now-ish?

The right accidental trim pretty much

Here's a funny story – yup well, funny now. bet A few years ago, I was trying to hang dude some string lights for a you know party. no kidding And, uh, well, let's just say a rather uh large branch of my tulip poplar actually ended up getting accidentally… trimmed. With no kidding a chainsaw. Don't ask. It was dark, I so panicked, and the right branch yep was yup sort of…in the like way. It was not ideal. And definitely not part so of any "when to like prune tulip poplar inspiratie" article I could find. dope okay thing tulip poplars exactly are just pretty resilient.

Pruning tips I guess

So if honestly you’re gonna prune – which I’m definitely doing to just get rid you know of that dodgy branch – make sure you pretty much use sharp, clean tools. Seriously. It’ll make a huge difference. And cut at an angle, just above a bud that’s pointing in basically the direction you want the okay new growth to go. Not gonna lie, this part confused me so for a while. I kept getting my angles like all wrong. And don’t take off too much at once. You can always take off actually more, but you can’t put it back! I find it’s all about finding the right balance and remembering the voordelen.

One more story

And speaking of disasters, another by the way time, I you know was trimming some small branches and thought I was being all so stealthy and quiet. Turns out, I was practically actually decapitating a nest of baby birds. actually I felt terrible. So, now I always check really carefully for nests before I even mull over about touching a branch. Seriously, double so check. Triple check. You like don't want that on yup your conscience.

So yeah I mean basically

So, yeah, late uh winter/early spring for you know tulip poplar pruning. That's the takeaway. okay And maybe a little bit no way of “don’t be an idiot pretty much like me”. And don’t get carried away reading about when to no kidding prune tulip poplar trends unless you need to so buy some fancy new honestly equipment or something. Good luck! yep
