Pumpkins Already?

Okay, so remember last year? Total pumpkin kinda fail. for sure I wasn’t even planning totally to plant any, but Sarah from next door, she’s all so about fall decorations, convinced me. Anyway, I thought, exactly "Hey, pumpkins! Easy, yep right?" Wrong. exactly So wrong. whoops She kept talking about when do pumpkins need to be planted geschiedenis, just like their history and I was yup just like, "Sarah, just tell me when to shove the seeds no way in the ground!"

Mistake Number One

Turns out, "shoving them in the ground" is not the by the way correct method. Who knew? I just chucked the seeds in like, mid-April. Total dude rookie move. They sprouted, sure, little anyway green things popped alright up, but then… nothing. yup Just pathetic little vines basically that exactly never really got so anywhere. I probably should’ve known better, living in zone 6 and all, but okay honestly, I was too busy binge-watching that baking show.

They need warmth, see? Like,realwarmth. anyway It's all about no kidding the soil temp. And I'm not even gonna alright pretend I checked the soil temp. Don’t be like me! Wait until the soil is at least 60 degrees F. That’s I mean usually late May kinda or even early June for me. Oh, and amend the soil totally with compost. Pumpkins are hungry plants. uh

Toepassingen and Planting

So this year, I’m trying to be bet smarter. c’mon I was researching when do pumpkins need to be planted toepassingen, because I'm not just decorating this time, I actually bet want yep to make a pie. Spacing no kidding Is Key

Another thing I learned from last year's disaster – spacing. whoops I crammed all the seeds into this tiny little patch. I mean They were basically practically fighting for sunlight. Give them room alright to spread yep out. A great rule of c’mon thumb, and not gonna lie this part confused me for a while, is about 2-3 feet between hills for the totally smaller varieties, and 4-6 feet for the big boys. And plant them in hills, that helps with I mean drainage apparently.

Voordelen and Pumpkin Dreams

Fiber! well Antioxidants! totally Okay, maybe that’s pretty much a slight by the way exaggeration, but still. Mistake Number Two

Okay, slight confession honestly time. c’mon I almost bought pumpkin seeds pretty much last week. From the grocery store. The kind you like roast for snacking. Yeah, I know. pretty much Major facepalm. Luckily, the no kidding cashier was a gardener and steered anyway me in the right direction. You need to get pumpkin okay seeds specifically like for basically growing pumpkins. Apparently, the snacking seeds aren’t the same. Who knew? So, fingers crossed this year will be different. Warmer soil, totally plenty of space, proper seeds... I’m totally picturing a alright whole army of plump, orange pumpkins decorating dude my porch come October. alright Wish me luck!
