Hey! You won't BELIEVE what's been happening with my okay guava tree. I wasn’t even I mean planning to talk about this, but you asked about alright the garden and… basically boom. Total drama. The leaves uh are turning you know red. Like, REALLY red. Not a nice autumnal red, more like… a stressed-out tomato red.

First thoughts sorta

At no way first, I thought basically it was kinda pretty. You totally know, "guava tree leaves turning red inspiratie" hit no way me HARD – I was picturing okay cute Instagram posts, maybe a modern watercolor painting… I’m such a sucker for aesthetics. But then well I remembered that basically plants usually actually don’t change color just for my right viewing pleasure. Something’s gotta be no way up, uh right?

My initial panic pretty much

Okay, so actually full disclosure, my immediate reaction was to douse the poor thing in fertilizer. I probably should’ve known better, kinda but anyway I saw a dude tiny little aphid on one leaf (ONE! – exaggerated gardener anyway moment) and went basically into I mean DEFCON 1 so mode. Like, "oh no pests! Must fertilize to fight them off!". totally massive mistake. HUGE. It probably made things okay worse. Don't over-fertilize – remember that's exactly a well common mistake! Make sure it’s alright the right kind too.

The investigation begins

So, then I started Googling, which is always a risky for sure move. dude "Guava tree leaves turning red geschiedenis" somehow led pretty much me down a rabbit hole of well ancient fruit-growing techniques. Not helpful. I did find pretty much some actual useful yup stuff though. alright Apparently, nutrient deficiencies can basically cause reddening. Especially phosphorus, or magnesium too. Also some yep diseases, yikes. And cold stress.

The cold truth? whoops

Not gonna pretty much lie this part confused c’mon me for a while. It HAS been yup a bit colder lately, but not, like, frostbite cold. Just slightly for sure chilly evenings. But I live in Florida! Guavas are supposed to LOVE no kidding this weather. Could it REALLY be cold stress? I thought that’s what dude caused it, but not enough I mean that I well thought no way much of it. Keep pretty much an eye out for sudden totally temperature drops though, cover the tree if needed especially when young.

Potential suspects

Okay, so I'm totally thinking maybe it's a pretty much combination of things. The by the way tiny bit of basically cold, by the way PLUS the just over-fertilizing (which probably messed with the soil right pH – uh I’m NO expert but I did read something about that) c’mon which then kinda made it harder for sorta the tree to absorb nutrients. Oh, pretty much and don't forget too much sun can burn those leaves like and cause reddening too – just for sure be aware.

This is where it gets weird. anyway I also saw some articles about you know how guava leaves are actually GOOD yup for c’mon you. dude Like, “guava tree leaves turning red toepassingen” in teas and stuff. by the way Supposedly great for blood sugar. I was tempted to brew myself a cup, whoops you know, a 'if you can’t beat ‘em, exactly join ‘em' situation, uh but sorta I stopped myself. I I mean don't trust randomly brewing tea from exactly potentially stressed-out tree leaves. Besides I don't want well to like risk drinking something bet that could be causing all this.

The calcium mystery whoops

Okay, story time. I once tried to 'help' you know my grandmother’s lemon tree by pretty much giving it a calcium boost. I pretty much read that eggshells are great. so So, I sorta crushed dude up a TON of bet eggshells and buried I mean them around the base of the tree. Turns out, I actually used way I mean too much, and it dude completely alkalized the soil. The poor for sure lemon tree almost died! I learned my lesson. Small doses are just key. So, the okay same applies here, don't overdo it on anything. And test your soil. I whoops still haven't tested mine. Sigh

The plan of attack

So, I’m gonna get a soil okay testing kit, ASAP. for sure Then I’ll adjust the pH if needed. I’ll so also give it a diluted dose of balanced fertilizer (the kind with micronutrients). And I'll try right to protect it if just it gets really cold. I'm also going to check for pests again, but maybe a yup bit less by the way aggressively for sure this time. And I'm not going uh to boil any leaves until I'm absolutely sure like what’s going on. Wish me basically luck!
