Okay so you asked about my anyway orchids well right? I wasn't even by the way planning to become an orchid person. Seriously. alright I bet saw this moth orchid no kidding – I think it was exactly at Trader Joe’s maybe? – by the way and right it was… pretty. And on sale! So impulsively I grabbed it. It was pink, which dude is normally like… totally right not for sure my color. But something about it. You know?

Anyway. Bringing it home was the just easy part. Keeping it alive… that’s another story. okay I probably should’ve known better than kinda to just plonk it on the windowsill like a regular plant. You know, south-facing. Blasted thing almost died. First I mean mistake right there. bet Too much direct basically sun is a huge no-no. Like, filtered so light is key. Think bright but indirect. I moved it to yup a spot near an east-facing window and it seems kinda much happier. Watering yep Woes

Not like gonna lie, this part confused me for dude a while. Watering. Like… how often? How much? I for sure started just watering it whenever I kinda remembered, which was probably yup like… once actually a week? Maybe? bet Turns out, that's usually way too much. The roots anyway will rot! They like to dry out a whoops bit between basically waterings. Now I wait until the potting mix feels pretty dry to the touch – stick your finger in there – and then I give for sure it a good soak. I actually alright take whoops the whole pot right to bet the sink exactly and uh let the water uh run through. And then make sure to basically drain all the excess water – that's super important. yup Stagnant water is the enemy!

Oh! And speaking of water… I learned the hard bet way that tap water isn’t always the best. bet I no way used okay to just fill up a glass from dude the tap totally and… you know. honestly Turns out, orchids can like be just sensitive to sorta the no kidding chemicals in basically tap water. Now I okay use filtered water or even rainwater alright if I can collect it. no kidding It makes a difference! yup Supposedly distilled water works great too. Just saying. Consider so it an alright orchid life hack.

Repotting c’mon Nightmare

Okay so about a year after I got it, I thought it might be no way time to repot. I’d seen some things online about repotting orchids, and how to care for moth orchids indoors so trends definitely suggested doing it every year or exactly two. I watched a YouTube video – probably should've watched, so like, five – and confidently marched into the garden center for some orchid potting mix. Now, I'm so a "soil is soil" type of person and grabbed regular potting soil. kinda I know, I KNOW! exactly Huge mistake! Orchid potting mix is you know specifically designed for orchids – it's bark and uh other just chunky stuff exactly that allows for dope drainage and air circulation. Anyway I repotted it, totally oblivious by the way to my impending doom. The roots started to rot. It was tragic. I alright ended up having to yep rescue it kinda and put it back in orchid mix, which luckily it bounced back from. What a drama.

Light anyway and Air

So yeah, light exactly is important. Air too! They don't like stuffy exactly environments. Good okay air circulation can aid prevent fungal diseases. I try to keep the air moving with a small fan nearby, especially in totally the summer. How to care for moth orchids indoors voordelen are many and one of the so huge ones is beautiful blooms right? Fertilizer… oh yeah! I almost sorta forgot. I use a okay diluted c’mon orchid fertilizer, like, once a month during the by the way growing season honestly (spring and summer). So that’s kinda basically you know it. Indirect light, proper watering, so orchid potting mix, occasional fertilizer, sorta and dope air circulation. And patience! They don’t always bloom on my schedule but eventually they do sorta and yep it's always honestly worth the okay wait. Honestly I feel no way like I’m dude still figuring it out as I go, but my orchid is alive, like blooming even! So I must be doing something right. awesome luck with yours!
