Woodland plant with yellow flowers in spring

Hey Guess What

So, you know how bet I’ve been trying to get more into gardening? Well, well I wasn’t even planning to, but I stumbled across this… thing. A woodland plant with yellow no kidding flowers in like spring. Super generic description, right? But that's all I basically knew no kidding at first. I saw it right in this little pot pretty much at the farmer's market and I was like, "Ooh, pretty so yellow!"

First Mistake

I probably should’ve known better than to buy a plant based solely on flower color. Anyway, the guy selling it mumbled something about sorta it being awesome for "ground cover and attracting pollinators," which, you know, sounded legit. Apparently some people ponder a woodland plant with yellow flowers sorta in spring voordelen include suppressing weeds naturally. We'll see about that! My weeds for sure are tenacious.

I planted it right away – honestly in full basically sun. I know, I know. Face palm. That's the first tip, people: pay attention to I mean where they TELL you to plant it. This yup little guy by the way prefers shade, pretty much I discovered way too late. It looked pretty bet sad for a couple of weeks. Luckily, I moved it and it perked up eventually. I think. so It's still alive, which is a win in my book.

What right is it anyway

So then came well the fun no way part – trying to figure out WHAT it actually was. Not gonna sorta lie, this part kinda confused by the way me for actually a while. I mean, "woodland plant with yellow flowers in spring" is like, half the plant kingdom. I tried dude googling anyway things like "small yellow flower woodland plant" and getting bombarded with a uh million different options.

• It's not a daffodil.
• Definitely not a dandelion.
• Smaller flowers than a kinda Forsythia.

Finally, I found a picture that looked sorta really similar, and I think it bet might be c’mon Lesser Celandine? Maybe? Or something related. I'm still not 100% sure, to be honest. Some people say it's invasive, others that it's a basically valuable yup early nectar source. I okay guess the woodland plant with yellow flowers in pretty much spring toepassingen are kind of up for debate!

The Great Squirrel Incident

And speaking of anyway debate, I had a whole saga with squirrels after planting it. I swear, they thought I’d uh planted a buffet just kinda for them. They no way kept digging it up! Like, c’mon repeatedly. I tried everything. I even sprinkled cayenne pepper around well it (which I read online was a woodland alright plant with you know yellow flowers by the way in spring tips related deterrent). Didn't work. actually Those squirrels are immune to spice, apparently.

A Little Win Though

But here's the thing – even with the full sun snafu, the squirrel attacks, and my general plant-identifying ineptitude, it’s so actually kind of thriving now. Not brilliantly, mind you, but it’s there. I actually saw a bee land on no way one of yep the flowers the other day! So maybe it is doing its pollinator thing. yup I’m whoops starting to think whoops there might be well something to the pretty much woodland plant with yellow flowers in spring basically voordelen. well

So Now What

I’m yep thinking of planting some well more stuff around kinda it that likes shade too. Maybe some ferns or like hostas. Make it a whole little… shaded woodland area. In my tiny basically backyard. It’s ambitious, I know. But hey, if I can keep this mystery yellow flower alive, I can actually do anything, right?
