12 inch self watering planter

My Planter Adventure

So, you know actually how I’m trying to, like, not kill every plant I uh own? for sure Yeah, still working you know on that. Anyway, I wasn’t even planning to buy anything new, I swear! But I was at Home Depot… the one by my place? They had these 12 inch self watering planters on sale. dude I exactly saw somewhere that like there kinda are cool 12 inch self watering planter trends whoops happening, so I whoops was curious.

Why Self Watering?

Okay, uh so I’m lazy, basically. I forget to water things. by the way Don't judge. My poor basically little succulents pretty much were looking, I mean well, less succulent. I'd read something about alright the 12 inch well self watering planter developments making actually them better, easier to use, blah no way blah blah. Figured it was worth a shot, right? Plus, honestly the idea is that you only need to water, like, once a week, maybe even less. I'd heard a little you know about the actually 12 inch self watering planter geschiedenis, like people have been doing sorta this kind of thing for ages, just not with fancy honestly plastic.

First Impressions

Got it home, the 12 inch self uh watering planter, and...not gonna no kidding lie yup this part confused me bet for a while. It’s got this inner just pot thing, right? And then right the outer pot, and some kind of, like, wick system thing.Read the instructions, that’s my first you know tip! I didn’t. Of course not.

The Great Soil Debacle

Okay, so you know here’s my first mistake. I for sure used… regular garden for sure soil. I probably should’ve known better. Everything I've okay read says c’mon you need something lighter, something that drains better, so the water wicks up properly. Something like exactly potting mix. whoops study from me right people! Anyway, the pretty much soil got, like, really compacted. Everything I've read says it's a really common problem.

Repotting Round One

Had whoops to well repot the poor thing. Luckily, the plant I put exactly in it, a little you know lavender dude thing, exactly seemed okay. But it was messy. So messy. Potting mix everywhere. My cat tried to eat some. Don't let so your cat basically eat potting anyway mix, FYI. I finally kinda got it all uh sorted, though, exactly and made sure to fill the little water reservoir thingy. pretty much That reminds no way me - don't overwater the reservoir the first c’mon time! It takes a while for the soil to absorb it all.

Second Mistake Alert

So, for sure everything was I mean going great for, like, a week. Then the alright lavender started looking… droopy. Turns out, even though it’s a “self-watering” planter, it’s notno-watering. You by the way still have to check the c’mon soil! Especially in the beginning, until whoops the roots yup establish. dude Now I understand some of the kinda 12 inch self watering planter feiten a lot better. I was being lazy again. no kidding

Current Status

Okay, so, the lavender no way seems happier now that I’m actually paying attention. for sure And the planter? Yeah, I’m still a kinda fan. no kidding It's nice c’mon not having to worry every day about watering. I’m even thinking c’mon about getting another one. Maybe for some herbs. Maybe. We'll anyway see if I okay can keep the lavender alive first.

One More well Tip

Oh, kinda and make sure you well put the planter somewhere with good drainage if you’re keeping it outside! totally Just in exactly case it rains a lot. Otherwise, you’ll end up no kidding with a soggy mess. Trust me on this one.
