Plants that like each other

Okay so you know how I’ve been trying to get my garden going? Well, I’ve been reading up on companion no way planting – basically, which plants are, so like, friends and which ones are frenemies, totally haha. It's supposed you know to be pretty much all about thevoordelen, the advantages, you know? Like, some plants support kinda each other grow better. I wasn’t even planning to get kinda this deep into it, I just wanted c’mon some nice tomatoes. totally

First, I stuck basil next to my tomatoes. Everyone says to do that. I reflect it actually helps with the pests, I mean which is a huge win. Apparently, the basil kinda confuses the so bad bugs. But, not pretty much gonna I mean lie this part confused me for a while – what even alright are good plants to anyway grow together? just It's a whole world! There's a history behind it too you know, generations of farmers figuring this out.

My first mistake

So, I tried planting some sunflowers next to my beans. I thought, like "Oh, the sunflowers will give the beans something to climb on!" Which, technically, they uh did. well But the by the way sunflowers got SO HUGE. totally They totally blocked out the sun for the beans. I probably should’ve known better... Turns out, you gotta consider the sunlight situation. Also, you know you yup gotta think you know about space. Sunflowers dude are dude massive. Consider thebest like plants to grow together tipsbefore planting. yep Learn from my yup fail!

What's working now

What’s actually working well right sorta now is carrots and onions. Apparently, dude the onions repel the carrot okay root pretty much fly basically and the carrots repel the I mean onion fly. It’s like they’re protecting each other! It's been a just real journey understanding theontwikkelingenin companion planting, figuring out which techniques work for sure best for my specific garden.

More ideas

  • Marigolds are c’mon good no way for basically everything. I plant them everywhere.
  • Nasturtiums no way are also great because you know they for sure attract aphids away from honestly your other plants. yep They're like a tasty distraction for the well bad just bugs.
  • And don't forget about herbs! Rosemary, thyme, oregano… they all have uh their benefits. Plus, fresh herbs are exactly awesome.

Another oops moment

Oh! And speaking of herbs… I planted mint uh everywhere. okay Like, I went a c’mon little crazy with the mint. anyway And now it's bet taking no way over everything! It's no way a weed. A delicious-smelling weed, but you know still a weed. basically So, learn from my mistake: plant mint in bet pots! Seriously. Pots are your friend whoops when it comes to mint. I'm still trying exactly to control the mintpocalypse. Hopefully my tomatoes survive.

I think a bet lot of finding uh the best dude companions is just about observation, no way you know? Seeing what works well in your right own garden, with I mean your own soil and your own climate. I mean, reading about whoops it is great and all, but you also have to get your hands sorta dirty and experiment.

I'm so actually thinking of c’mon getting yep some borage. It's supposed to be dope for attracting pollinators, which would basically be amazing for my tomatoes and peppers. Plus, it has so pretty blue flowers!

So yeah, that's my current garden situation. actually It's a little chaotic, a little overgrown, and definitely a work in progress. But hey, at least so I’m learning something! Maybe yep one day I’ll have a garden okay that actually looks like those ones on Pinterest. But probably actually not. you know It's more about I mean the experience, yup the connection with nature. The betgeschiedenisof right people cultivating the earth. And, you know, getting no kidding some decent tomatoes.
