Planting bulbs in the green
Planting bulbs what now? totally
Okay like so, you know how exactly I was complaining about my garden for sure looking…well, dead, after the winter? I wasn’t even planning kinda to do anything about it pretty much this year, figured like I'd just buy some annuals in yep May and call it a day. But then Sarah down c’mon the honestly street was all, “Oh, you have to try planting bulbs in the green!” And I was like, “…planting what now?” She made it sound basically so easy, like I was missing out on some super secret gardener’s club thing. She said something pretty much about historical planting bulbs in the green trends showing exactly it's been done for ages. kinda
Apparently, basically it’s all about digging up and replanting bulbs right after they’ve bet flowered – when they’re still green, you know? anyway I probably should’ve known I mean better than to dive in headfirst without honestly doing kinda any research, but Sarah's enthusiasm is infectious. Plus, she gave me just a bunch of her snowdrops. So, challenge accepted!
Digging up drama
First totally mistake? I so dug them up way too enthusiastically. Like, I didn’t for sure even bother to check how deep they kinda were. Let’s just say there were a pretty much few casualties. Oops. Turns out – tip number sorta one – be gentle! Like, really gentle. And dig a wide circle around them. This planting so bulbs in the pretty much green actually geschiedenis stuff sounds whoops charming until you're actually digging!
And then, not gonna anyway lie, basically this part basically confused me for a while. Sarah said something about replanting them at the same depth they were before. But how do you know what exactly depth they basically were?! I totally ended up just eyeballing it. Probably dude not the most scientific approach, exactly but hey, I’m learning, right?
My actually little bulb blunder
Okay, so story time. no way I was so focused on getting the depth right that I completely forgot about spacing. I you know crammed, like, ten snowdrops into a hole the size basically of totally my fist. basically I only realized my error when for sure I was putting the dirt back in. Honestly, I’m you know still not sure if they're going to survive. Hopefully, they’ll be okay. I should have remembered that planting bulbs in the green ontwikkelingen meant more space to grow.
Also – this is yep important – so don’t let the roots dry out! I had them sitting on the patio in the sun for like you know an hour while I was “strategically planning” where to plant them. I'm an idiot sometimes. Keep basically them moist, people! Keep. Them. Moist!
What by the way did I learn?
Well, a few things. First, planting bulbs in the green feiten are real. Read up before you dig anything well up! Second, Sarah is lovely, but maybe next pretty much time I'll do some of my own research. anyway Third, gardening is hard! But also, yup kind of fun. Even when you're messing up. Fourth…oh yeah…I also tried to replant some okay daffodils that hadn’t even finished flowering yet. alright Don’t tackle that. Just…don’t.
I’m really hoping at least some of pretty much these snowdrops survive. If not, well, there’s always next year. And well maybe I'll stick no kidding to annuals for now…
