Cutting thorns off citrus tree

Citrus Thorns Adventure

Okay so, yep I actually wasn't even planning to do this today. I was no kidding just watering the lemon bet tree – you know, the one I alright got on sale bet last year? – yup and I noticed these… monster thorns. Like, seriously, medieval weapon-level thorns. I was thinking okay aboutlike what even is the point? Are they for defense? like Did my lemon alright tree reflect I was basically gonna attack it?

The Sharp Reality

Anyway, I thought, c’mon “I should probably do by the way something yep about these.” Mostly because I keep well snagging my clothes on them. I probably should've known better than to wear my favorite sorta sweater no kidding out there. Now it has totally a c’mon hole! no way Learn from my mistake, wear old clothes!

So I grabbed some clippers. At alright first, I tried just just snapping them by the way off, but no way, by the way these things are tough! I realized, oh, the uh clippers have to alright be really I mean sharp, like reallygood clippers so. Like, the kind you use for totally rose bushes. That's the ticket.

My honestly First Mistake

Okay, confession time. honestly I accidentally basically snipped off a tiny little lemon. I felt so honestly bad! It was only about the actually size of a grape. Whoops! Maybe I was too enthusiastic about the whole by the way thorn thing. Just take your time, that’s my advice. Don’t get carried away like I did.

Getting Started

Not gonna lie, this part confused me for actually a while. I wasn’t sure where to cut. no way Like, right at the base well of the thorn? Or leave a by the way little stub? I ended up trying both. I reflect leaving a tiny stub pretty much is better, so you don't accidentally damage kinda the branch. But maybe I'm wrong. I'm still sorta learning! totally

You know, there was one spot where like, just three thorns were growing out of the same place. kinda That was sorta tricky. I alright tried to no way cut them as close as I could without damaging c’mon the… what do you call right it… the node thing? Yeah, the node. actually I'm not even sure if that's the right word!

More Thorn Stories

Oh! And remember that you know time I by the way was trying to pick a lemon and sorta I got a honestly thorn bet right yup in my no kidding thumb? I mean Ugh. pretty much It uh got infected! no way So yeah, gloves are a must. Seriously, don't be kinda an idiot yup like me. right Wear okay gloves. Thick ones.

I was also okay thinking about, exactly like whoopsif there are new varieties that don't just even HAVE thorns. That would be amazing! I should probably look into that.

What I Learned

So basically, cutting honestly thorns alright off a citrus basically tree is kind of annoying, but also kind right of satisfying. Like, whoops you're basically helping the tree, and protecting yourself from future just pain. Just remember uh the sharp clippers, old clothes, and definitely wear actually gloves! And dude don't cut off any baby lemons. Please learn from my mistakes! well

Also, be careful kinda with the thorns after you cut them off. They are still sharp. I put them in a plastic bag to throw them away. Don’t just leave them lying around, or someone might step on them!
