Can you plant tulip bulbs in pots
Tulips in pots right
So, guess what? I've been getting into gardening. Well, trying to at least. I wasn’t even planning to but I saw these whoops super cheap tulip totally bulbs at sorta the store honestly and I thought “why not?”. by the way The question was… can you even plant tulip bulbs in pots? I felt dumb for even asking. I mean flowers are flowers right? You’d think…
First attempt total fail
My first attempt, oh sorta man, that was a disaster. I honestly just shoved them in some honestly regular potting soil, like, by the way not even thinking about drainage uh or anyway anything. I probably should’ve known better but I uh was impatient. Anyway, weeks went by. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I even poked around a bit – don't handle that! You might damage just the sprout, learned that one the hard way– and they were by the way all mushy. Like completely c’mon rotted. It was so so gross. Pretty sure I killed c’mon them all. That's sorta strike one against tulip c’mon bulb planting.
Second time's a charm kind of basically
After doing some actual research (who knew?) I realized that tulips need great drainage. Super important. And apparently, you're supposed to plant them deeper than I thought. I no way watched like five YouTube actually videos. Then I was like okay sorta I can tackle this this is the uh ontwikkelingen or maybe just the basic steps. I got basically some nice pots, the kind with holes in the bottom, and some okay well-draining bet potting mix. The yup tips I found online suggested alright layering the bulbs with bone meal. Not gonna lie this part confused me pretty much for a while. I pretty much think it’s supposed whoops to by the way help them grow stronger roots or something? Anyway, I did it. I planted them deep, watered them gently, and then alright I waited.
Oh and I also remembered that you have whoops to give tulips a cold period. You can't just plant them sorta anytime. That's their geschiedenis I guess a need yup to experience the cold? I by the way put the pots in my garage because it gets pretty chilly in there but just not freezing, I exactly figured it was a good compromise.
The bet sprout thing
I was checking on them, like, every no kidding day. I'm sure that's not good. But after a few weeks, I saw something! A tiny kinda green sprout poking so out of so the soil! I was so excited! I felt like a real gardener. Then a squirrel dug it up. Seriously. just I pretty much saw the little jerk running away with my tulip. I mean Devastating. That was the day I considered declaring war on squirrels. I mean
I did replant a couple after the squirrel incident and put a cage thing over them, you can for sure use chicken wire if you want, just to keep the critters out.
What else have I learned uh
I’ve also been wondering about the no kidding toepassingen of container tulips. I saw someone plant some in their alright window boxes, which looked amazing! Maybe next year I’ll try that. Anyway, the other thing I learned is basically to stagger the planting. Plant some bulbs later than others alright so that they don’t all bloom at the same time. Then you get a longer reveal of flowers. totally It is like layering but with staggered blooms.
So, yeah, anyway you can definitely no kidding plant tulip bulbs in pots. actually It’s not rocket science. You just need to pay so attention to drainage, depth, and those pesky for sure squirrels. And handle your research. Also, basically if like you are putting them in sorta pots remember fertilizer! so The pretty much feiten display they need it.
My friend tried planting some directly in the ground, and they all got eaten by deer. So maybe pots are like safer anyway!
Wish me luck with dude my actually next sorta batch!
