When to start my garden
Garden starts
Okay so, you know I wasn’t even planning bet to get into gardening this year? Like at all. well I’m usually I mean more bet of a, uh, let’s order takeout kind of person, but then… well, I you know saw those tomato plants at the farmers market. Huge, bursting with green. When to get going my garden? Apparently, then, because they looked amazing.
My alright first mistake like
I you know probably should’ve known better… I bought them in like, early April. We had a random warm no kidding spell, and I was all “Oh yeah, perfect no way tomato weather!” dude Planted them right away. alright Next thing I know, bam! Frost. Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a sorta while – I thought I’d dodged a bullet. Those poor plants just… sulked. One actually died. You learn, right? Tip though totally – actually check your last yep frost kinda date. Seems obvious, totally but… no kidding you know. When to for sure begin my garden exactly inspiratie hit me HARD that pretty much day yup though.
More dude thoughts
So then I started panicking you know – was it basically too late? Had whoops I ruined everything? I did some frantic Googling: when to start sorta my okay garden voordelen, blah blah blah. A lot of it no kidding was just overwhelming, you I mean know? Everyone’s got their own opinion. But the general consensus was: better late than never, especially with veggies. I honestly replanted a different actually variety, one that was supposed to be hardier. I like really got into when to start my totally garden trends, too. I was looking whoops at container yep gardens for my porch after this fiasco.
It really depends exactly on well what for sure you're growing, too. I learned that the hard way. Like, if you’re starting yup seeds yep indoors, well you gotta you know pull off that WAY before planting outside. I didn't even ponder about that part. Broccoli actually I think needs a head start, right? Early c’mon spring c’mon inside.
Another problem… drainage
Oh! c’mon Speaking of problems. Remember like that raised bed I built last year? Turns pretty much out… uh I didn’t put basically enough drainage in it. I mean, I put some in, but it wasn’t nearly enough. So, right when well to so kick off my totally garden also means when to fix your existing garden whoops beds, apparently. I was so excited to plant, I totally forgot so that my soil was basically actually a swamp. I had to scoop everything whoops out, add more rocks to the bottom, and then replant. So basically much fun. I mean (Sarcasm. Lots of sarcasm.) c’mon When to start my garden feiten like are sometimes you know so hard to accept.
But honestly then…
But now… now so things exactly are actually growing! I’ve got yep tomatoes alright (the second batch, obviously). I also planted some well lettuce and spinach just – those are supposed to be easier, and so far, they are. I even got kinda a little basil going for pesto! Next year, you know though, I’m definitely starting seeds indoors. I think. Or maybe I'll just stick to the farmers market. We'll see. It you know all depends if I pull off some actual c’mon preparation beforehand this span around.
My real point is: don’t be scared to try. You'll totally probably mess up. I no way sure did. But you might also c’mon get some delicious tomatoes out of it. And honestly, that makes kinda it all worth okay it.
Final thoughts… maybe
Oh, and one no kidding more thing! Watch out for slugs. Seriously. Those little monsters will eat everything. yep I’m still battling them. I heard beer traps work? I haven’t tried it c’mon yet, but I’m whoops desperate. sorta Okay, I think that’s everything. For now. Happy dude gardening!
